Lavender Hill Studios Next Generation Fund
Lavender Hill Studios was created with a clear vision: to train a new generation of figurative artists and preserve the craft of drawing and painting. It is the first atelier in the UK and the only art school to teach classical techniques whilst giving students the skills and confidence to find their own artistic identity.
Co-founders Ann Witheridge, Nick Bashall and Scott Pohlschmidt have, from the beginning, run the school on a not-for-profit basis. They have been driven by a love of art and the desire to share their knowledge and expertise with a new generation of artists. Ten years on, Lavender Hill Studios has grown enormously. Today it welcomes a community of incredible artists and continues to attract more, and younger, students.
These talented individuals have a thirst for learning but not necessarily the means. It has always been a part of the LHS ethos to facilitate learning, trading jobs around the school for classes. However, such has been the school’s following that this approach is no longer sustainable. For this reason we are delighted to announce the launch of the LHS Next Generation Fund.
LHS Next Generation Fund is intended to support students who have been at the Studios for a minimum of two terms and shown commitment to their art. The proceeds from all our events go towards the fund and we have already been fortunate to host some exceptional artists and speakers, including Henry Yan and Sandra de Laszlo, to give talks in support of the scholarship.
